Job Description |
Job Description: The School Director will provide strategic leadership and oversee the overall operation of the Neurodiversity School in Tokyo (NSIT) to ensure the success and long-term sustainability of the new school serving neurodivergent children. This role will include managing a diverse staff, communicating cross-culturally with international students and families, and ensuring compliance with educational and legal standards. As NSIT establishes its foundation and expands its social impact, the School Director will play a central role in strengthening the organizational management system, improving the quality of education and support programs, and building a vibrant learning community that prioritizes student development and the growth of the school organization. Key Responsibilities: Administration ● Develop and improve school-wide policies and procedures to enhance the school organization while ensuring alignment with educational best practices and long-term sustainability ● Act as the organization's safety manager, proactively identify and evaluate health, safety and legal risks, provide strategic guidance and develop appropriate policies ● Partner with education and therapy leaders to establish and improve systematic processes to support student development, ensuring consistency and quality of educational and therapeutic support Human Resources Management ● Manage and support a diverse team of educators and therapists, overseeing performance management and disciplinary actions as necessary, while ensuring alignment with NSIT's educational policies and approach ● Oversee the retention and recruitment of school staff, working with administration to identify recruitment needs, welcome new members and foster a positive work culture ● Oversee staff training and implement staff development strategies, including mentorship and professional learning opportunities to promote staff performance and growth ● Provide direct support to frontline staff when issues arise in classroom management or student support, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment ● Ensure a safe environment for all children and staff, physically, emotionally and interpersonally Organizational Growth ● Work with the NPO Executive Director to strengthen NSIT's thought leadership in the field of neurodiversity and promote broader social impact through awareness-raising and knowledge-sharing initiatives ● Develop and implement strategies to increase student numbers and ensure smooth onboarding and long-term student and parent satisfaction through active engagement and follow-up 2 ● Lead and contribute to fundraising activities such as donation campaigns in line with the NPO Executive Director's strategic vision ● Work with research and education institutions to develop and improve programs and policies to increase the impact and visibility of the school ● Develop partnerships with external child protection agencies, government authorities and multi-agency teams to provide comprehensive safety support for NSIT students |

Job Requirements |
Required Qualifications and Skills: ● Mid-level experience in educational management ● Work experience as a teacher ● Communication skills in English (business level or above) and Japanese (native or business level) ● For foreign nationals, a residence status (work visa) that allows them to work in Japan Preferred Qualifications and Skills: ● Senior-level leadership experience in educational management ● Experience working with and/or training neurodivergent children ● Practical experience and a clear track record of engagement in learner-centered, strength-focused, asset-based approaches such as DIR Floortime and Reggio Emilia This role is perfect for you if you: ● A strong interest in child education, developmental support, and/or neurodiversity ● Ability to work quickly and agilely to adapt to change, and actively embrace the fast-paced and dynamic nature of the 0→1 phase ● Enjoys building new innovative systems and being involved in the creation of schools in the development stage You are looking for a role that allows you to grow and leave a meaningful mark on the long-term success of a small, mission-driven school. Annual salary: 8 million to 8.8 million yen (depending on experience) ● Social insurance provided ● Passive smoking prevention measures: Completely non-smoking on the premises ● Work schedule: Variable work based on the annual calendar presented at the start of the academic year ● Salary increase: Once a year (April) ● Transportation expenses provided (based on company regulations) ● Trial period: 3 months (no change in working conditions during the period) Social insurance provided Selection process Number of interviews: 3 to 4 (the first interview will be conducted online, and subsequent interviews will be conducted in person). Successful candidates will be informed of the main interview topics in advance to ensure a transparent selection process and to allow them to maximize their knowledge and abilities. In addition, the school incorporates the highest standards of child protection into its recruitment process. All positions carry child protection responsibilities. Successful candidates will undergo safety check procedures such as reference checks and background checks as part of a safer recruitment process. |
