About this position We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join us as a Front Desk Manager at our 5-star hotel. As a front desk manager, you will be responsible for assisting guests, handling bookings, and assisting the hotel operations manager with training and overseeing other guest services staff members. The ideal candidate should have previous experience supervising a guest services team, and posses excellent communication skills in English and Japanese, and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Guest Support & Inquiries: Respond to guest questions and requests promptly across various communication channels, ensuring a positive experience. 2. Reservation Management: Assist with booking services, handle guest check-ins and check-outs, and ensure accuracy in guest details and payment transactions. 3. Concierge Services & Problem Resolution: Provide local recommendations, arrange transportation, and address guest complains or concerns to ensure satisfaction. 4. Staff Supervision & Training: Assist with creating staff schedules, delegate tasks, and train the guest service team to maintain a productive environment. 5. Coordination & Payment Processing: Manage guest accounts, fulfill amenity requests, and process payments accurately while maintaining proper records. Screening Process Candidates will first meet with the HR Executive, and be required to provide at least 2 professional references. Following the interview and reference checks, the successful candidates will be interviewed by another member of the management team. |

Hakuba Hospitality Group is the leading property owner and manager, and restaurant and bar operator in Hakuba Valley, Nagano. Business operations depend on the time of the year. This past winter, HHG operated 6 hotels and over 50 chalets, and managed 13 food and beverage outlets. In the summer months, the operations scale back to being 3 hotels and the chalets, and 6 food and beverage outlets. While we have about 40 year-round permanent staff, we bring on an additional 250 staff members in the winter ski season to help operate the additional outlets. Working Hours |
Standard working hours of 40 hours per week, with 2 days off each week. During the winter season (December to March), staff may be required to work six days per week based on the operation. In the hospitality business, employees should be willing to work flexible hours, late evenings, weekends and holidays. |
Job Requirements |
Essential Qualifications: 1. A minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management within the hotel industry, especially in guest services or front desk operations. 2. A minimum of 2 years working at a hotel that is rated 3 or more stars. 3. Degree in hotel management, business administration, or a related field. 4. Strong communications skills both verbal and written. 5. Proficiency and familiarity with hotel management software and property management systems. 5. Business level (N2) Japanese or higher. 6. Business level English or higher. Preferred Skills/Experience: 1. Japanese Driver's License 2. Previous experience in customer service, and training staff 3. Experience working in hotel(s) or guest accommodations in Japan 4. Familiarity working in a resort environment, and knowledgeable of the unique operational challenges and opportunities presented by being located in such environment 5. Familiarity with Hakuba the local attractions, activities, and services Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate for the Hotel Front Desk Manager role is already located in Japan, and has experience working in professional settings using Japanese and English. They are willing to relocated to Hakuba, and have the flexibility to work on weekends and holidays. |
